Our Little Get Away

With the deployment now over, Wes and I decided that we needed to have a mini vacation. I wasn't sure about it being so close to Christmas, but I'm really glad we went for it. After considering our options of places to visit, we decided to go with the Exotic Sunset cottages in Wimberley, Texas. A friend of mine went there for her honeymoon and raved about how relaxing it was.

When we opened the door to our African Nights cottage, we were welcomed by Christmas music. There was poppy seed bread prepared and waiting for our breakfast and a pitcher of orange juice and chilled glasses in the refrigerator. Although it was drizzling and raining most of the time, we still found it very relaxing. Each cottage has it's own pool and hot tub! While we didn't get to swim, we did take advantage of the hot tub.

At night, we could hear the frogs croaking and when we turned out our lights to sleep, the cottage was pitch black because you're that far out in the country. The one thing that wasn't relaxing... the thought of running into a spider or a scorpion- nasty. Thankfully, we didn't see either.

If you are ever in the Texas Hill Country and decide to pay a visit to the lovely cottages, pack some books and leave your cell phones, laptops, and worries at home.
